Email - Outlook Express - Setting up a POP3 Account
This demo will show you how to set up a POP3 account in Outlook Express.
Before you can setup your account in Outlook Express or any local email client, you need to create it within your cPanel. If you need assistance with doing this, see our video demo:
Creating an Email Account
[1] Click on the "Tools" drop down and then click "Accounts"
[2] Click on "Add" and then select "Mail"
[3] Enter your name into the "Display name" field and then click "Next"
[4] Enter your e-mail address into the "E-mail address" field and then click "Next"
[5] Leave the incoming mail server as POP3
[6] Enter your domain name in both the incoming and outgoing mail server fields and then click "Next"
[7] Enter your full e-mail address into the "Account name" field
*Note: When Outlook requests your email address, you must input your full email address. Do not input your cPanel username. A full email address is of the form:
account@mydomain.com
where 'account' is the mailbox name you have setup and 'mydomain.com' is your domain name.
[8] Enter your e-mail address' password into the "Password" field and then click "Next"
[9] Click "Finish"
[10] Select your newly created e-mail account and then click "Properties"
[11] Click on the "Servers" tab
[12] Make sure that "My server requires authentication" is check marked
*Optional* If you want to leave a copy of your messages on the server, click on the "Advanced" tab and check mark "Leave a copy of messages on server". If this option is not checked, your email client will delete the messages off of the server every time it connects to your email account.
[13] Click "OK" to finish setting up a POP3 account in Outlook Express
